TATTOO'S

Today  I went and had my third tattoo. Previously I have had a butterfly on my ankle and a lady bug on my hip. After these small tattoos I said I was finished with defacing my body. I am  asked by many as to why I went and had another tattoo. Midlife crisis? passed that. Rebellion? perhaps. Why have tattoos at all?  Mostly because I wanted to shelve that image of myself, probably only an image in my own my mind, of the uptight princess I so often felt I was. The most recent tattoo I had because I wanted in place a memory of my trip overseas. While in Germany I fell in love with the edelweiss flowers and I thought a tattoo of these flowers was a fitting tribute to this amazing holiday.Having this tattoo made me feel free of convention, a tiny bit rebellious and  I now have a pretty picture on my leg.
The pain was hard to bare but sometimes you just have suck it up and make pain your friend. At the end of the day it is like having a baby in that you have something wonderful to show for the pain at the end. Ok, maybe it's not quite like having a baby but you get what I mean. It is a pain I chose to partake in and a pain I was willing to endure.
So at the end of the day here I am with a third tattoo. Bigger than the others but prettier and more meaningful. Will I go back to have more artistry on this temple I call my body? Probably not, but I am not one to ever cut off all my options.

Unanderra railway station

Unanderra Railway Station, for those that don't know it, is only available for use by able bodied young people without small children. The many stairs to get to the platforms make it impossible for a lot of people to be able to conveniently catch a train from this station. Upgrades on this station began last year when $11.4 million was allocated to Unanderra Station, and lifts were to be installed., After the waiting area of the station was upgraded then came the big turnaround. The lifts were not to be installed and the remaining funding was to be  re- allocated to another station in the Wollongong area. This is a disgusting turnaround on the State Governments part as the demographic for Unanderra is either older people who rely on trains for transport or parents with young children. The Station that they are giving the funds to does not need lifts.
Petitions are filed and people complain but it is surprising how little this really does to help the cause. Once Governments have made the decision that is it, do not pass go, do not collect $200. I get really angry at this lack of empathy. They do not care about the people affected, only about the areas where they will get the most votes. The politicians wonder why we don't trust them, here is a prime example.

SHOES

Recently the topic of women and their shoes came up again. Why is it a pair of exotic shoes with four inch heels  brings a woman to her knees. Is it in her DNA? Shoes in general can define a generation, make a man sit up and take notice or be a fashion statement.
Shoes can reflect a woman's mood. When she is wearing those sexy four inch heels in possibly black or red she is on the prowl. Feeling vibrant, beautiful and sexy, or perhaps she is short and just needs to have her head up in the clouds with the rest of the world. It is said that it is a natural instinct for women to wear heels to attract men as the heels cause a woman to walk with her bottom protruding, don't need to wear heels for that to happen in my case i'm afraid, and the heels define her calves. I will leave that one for the men to comment on.
Then there is the recycled shoe design, such as the "Converse". Young people wear the converse around , walking with a swagger, shoelaces undone. Well sweet young things, those shoes were around forty years ago, called gym shoes, which your parents all wore, minus the swagger.
Lets not forget the Ugg boot, the armchair shoe which when our feet are placed within their grasp all sigh with relief . Outed by Pamela Anderson for public exposure, the Uggie can now be worn anywhere and does not need any justification to be worn outside the home. Up there with tracksuit pants the institution known as Ugg is here to stay. Many shake their head in disgust, I say go the Uggie.
Shoes are a big part of my world, does this make me shallow, perhaps, but when I put on my converse and swagger out the door, I feel fifteen again. My calves are sexy and beautiful when those four inch heels are places firmly on my feet and when I return home after hours in those four inch heels I feel the welcoming call of my much loved Uggies.

Vaccinations

Well here I am again blogging, It has been so long since my last blog that I don't know where to start.
What I will do is start with the debate arising again about immunisation . To immunise or not to immunise that is the question. Personally I think it is a crime not to vaccinate your children. Those against it say it is their choice. What about the choice of the little babies too young to be immunised who catch diseases from your non vaccinated child in  a shopping centre? Every parent opting for the no vaccination road should be taken to a hospital to see a tiny baby with whooping cough trying to catch its breath, or perhaps the child dying from encephalitis, a long painful complication of a simple disease, measles.
There you have it, my rant for the day, and to all the parents anti vaccination remember that your child has more chance of dying from the diseases you are not immunising against than getting a side effect from the vaccine.
